Delivering Sustainable Water Supply Solutions for Lyantonde

Enviromark Consult (U) Ltd successfully provided Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Water Source Protection Planning, and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) services for the proposed Lyantonde Water Supply Project, commissioned by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC).

Implemented between January and September 2021, the project aimed to improve access to safe and reliable water for communities in Lyantonde and surrounding areas, including the Nshara Industrial Park. The development involved construction of an off-shore intake at Lake Kakyera, a water treatment plant, transmission systems, and distribution infrastructure to serve multiple communities in Kiruhura District.

Enviromark deployed a multidisciplinary team to conduct comprehensive environmental and social assessments, including baseline studies, water quality analysis, and stakeholder engagement. The team identified potential project impacts and developed practical mitigation measures aligned with national regulations and international standards.

A key component of the assignment was the preparation and implementation of a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP), ensuring fair compensation and sustainable livelihood restoration for affected communities. This included socio-economic surveys, property valuation, stakeholder consultations, and the establishment of grievance redress mechanisms and monitoring frameworks.

Through this project, Enviromark demonstrated its capacity to deliver integrated consultancy solutions that support large-scale infrastructure development while safeguarding environmental sustainability and community well-being.
