Supporting Sustainable Water Supply Expansion for EACOP Sites in Sembabule

Enviromark Consult (U) Ltd successfully delivered Environmental and Social Risk Assessment and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) services for the extension of water supply systems to EACOP MCPY-3 and PS-2 sites in Sembabule District, under the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC).

Implemented between November 2022 and May 2023, this assignment was part of a broader initiative to provide reliable water supply to key EACOP facilities across central Uganda. The project required a comprehensive assessment of environmental and social risks associated with infrastructure development, alongside the design of effective mitigation measures to ensure compliance and sustainability.

Our multidisciplinary team conducted detailed baseline studies covering environmental, social, and health aspects, while actively engaging stakeholders and affected communities. These efforts ensured that potential risks were identified early and managed effectively throughout the project lifecycle.

A central component of the assignment was the development and implementation of a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP). This involved socio-economic surveys, property valuation, community consultations, and the establishment of fair compensation frameworks. The team also designed grievance redress mechanisms and monitoring systems to ensure transparency, accountability, and long-term project acceptance.

Through this project, Enviromark reinforced its expertise in delivering integrated environmental and social consultancy services that support infrastructure development while safeguarding communities and the environment.
